Friday Night Extravaganza

Boy, I had a long day. The kind of day where you don't even have a minute to think, eat something real or look in the mirror. The kind of day that makes you qualify for a guilty-pleasures-popcorn-and-Netflix-marathon-filled night in.

But first, priorities.

Here I am, fresh from the last lecture. As you can see, I've got a face full of make up and I had a thing for red today. Is it just me or does anybody else take their make up off first thing after they come home in the evening?

Soap & Glory kindly sent me this duo to test out. The one on the left is their Drama Clean 5-in-1 Micellar Cleansing Water and it's accompanied by The Fab Pore Purifying Foam Cleanser. They've got a thing for cool names, don't they?

Both products have convenient packaging kept in a blue-and-pink theme. The descriptions sound promising; there's a mention of ingredients that sound thrilling for a semi-proud owner of rather oily skin, such as myself. The micellar water contains amongst others cucumber juice, peach extract and aloe; the cleanser has witch hazel in it. I've read so much about witch hazel and concluded that it might just be the ultimate skin saviour, so I was excited to try.

Naturally, the micellar water comes first. You just use it on a cotton pad, I'm sure you know the drill. Now, this thing smells divine, at least to me and I'm a hardcore cucumber scent fan. It smells like a cucumber and watermelon had a baby if that makes any sense. It does the job and it does it well; it takes the make up (including eye make up) right off. It's quick and you don't need a lot, so it should last for a while. It leaves your skin feeling fresh and a little... cool? In a very good way, though. It did not irritate my skin (bonus points for containing no alcohol). At that point my face was pretty clean, if I were to be REALLY lazy and leave it like that it would count as half a sin. But I double cleanse religiously (and you should too).

Excuse me while I concentrate on foam making. It's also pretty easy here, you just work the foam into your skin. One or two pumps are enough. You rinse it all and boom, you're done for the day. This, again, leaves a funny fresh feeling on your face (which makes these products a great summertime duo). It cleanses your skin thoroughly, but gently. Also, I probably shouldn't be wasting the product on this, but I find that the foam formula works great on my make up brushes.

I'll probably regret putting this picture out there, but well, whatever. Here I am, cleansed and on my way to moisturised. Overall, both the micellar water and the cleanser did a great job and I'm looking forward to seeing their long term effects on my skin (witch hazel, I'm looking at you). You can get yours from Boots, both the foam cleanser and the micellar water are currently on offer for £5 each!

Much love from Durham where I'm currently questioning my life choices as I applied my face mask before checking whether I need to get out of the house to get popcorn.
