DIY face masks!

Okay, so apparently there's a national SPA day coming up. I didn't know it existed, but I have yet to learn to say no to glamourised procrastination.

So here I am, coming at you with three DIY face masks that actually work. And since it's almost spring (yay!), they all focus on what your skin needs right now: cleansing, refreshing and brightening. And of course a little bit of moisturising never killed nobody too.

Anti-acne turmeric and olive oil mask

Turmeric is big these days. It's funny, because it's been around for ages... Anyway, now that a turmeric latte is a thing and half the food we eat is orange, why not just put it on our faces? Turmeric is antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. Olive oil works as a moisturiser and is low on the comedogenic scale, but feel free to choose any oil that works for you.

Ingredients:

- one teaspoon of ground turmeric

- one tablespoon of plain flour

- one tablespoon of olive oil (or an oil of choice)

- a bit of water

Just mix turmeric, flour and olive oil together until they are a paste. Then add a bit of water till you get the kind of consistency you like.

Keep it on your face for around 20 minutes to let turmeric do its magic. If you're scared you're gonna end up looking like some sort of a... ekhm... politician afterwards, don't worry. You won't. Just wash your face carefully. Make sure you don't leave any leftovers on your sink, otherwise it will end up like some sort of a politician and you don't need this kind of negativity in your bathroom.

Anti-aging ;) exfoliating and balancing porridge face mask

Ingrdients:

- a few blueberries

- a teaspoon of yogurt

- a teaspoon of honey

- a tablespoon of oats

- a few drops of lemon juice

Smash your blueberries with a fork and mix all the ingredients together. This mask is a little runny, so if you want to avoid complications use Greek yogurt and/or add a little flour to thicken it a little.

Keep this breakfast-wannabe on your face for around 15 minutes. It's beautifully moisturising and calming.

Oh, don't mind my jumper, I got turmeric on it. Glamour, I know.

DIY cucumber sheet mask

Oh, this one is fun. Sheet masks have been a staple ever since we started getting skincare inspiration from Koreans. This one is beautifully cheap and easy, you need just two ingredients and the will to get a little artsy. Cucumber contains vitamin C and K, both antioxidants. Also, thanks to vitamin A, cucumber has brightening effect. It's overall an awesome and underrated ingredient. Paper towel helps keep it on your face for longer so you can enjoy all the benefits.

Ingredients:

- paper towel

- cucumber

Grate some cucumber and let it sit for a few minutes. In the meantime, cut the holes for eyes, nose and mouth in your paper towel. I know, mine looks scary. Such is life. It works well.

After you're done getting all DIY, squeeze the cucumber juice to a bowl and let your paper towel soak up the juice. Ready!

Let it sit on your face for as long as you like, really. Relax, read a good book, dance to Bridget Jones soundtrack - this won't let go of your face.

Alright, that's all for today. Hope you try these out and love them as much as I do. You probably already have the ingredients in your kitchen, so...
