Hey! Today I'm coming at you with a review of an exciting product. Soap & Glory kindly sent me one of their newer babies by the name of The Mighty Contourer™ 3-In-1 Contour, Blush & Highlight Kit and I was quick to take it for a test drive.
Contouring is BIG. At some point, we all probably ended up with obvious brown patches on our cheeks and then watched at least one YouTube contouring tutorial and there's no shame in it. Thankfully, both high end and drugstore brands quickly spotted the trend and came out with multiple contouring products, which overtime evolved to be easier and easier to use.

The product comes in this black and gold, slick packaging. What I love about it is the size - it's really compact, a perfect on-the-go product that fits in your make up bag perfectly. A little disclaimer, the kit comes in two shade variations - fair and medium, but to be honest, they only differ in the shades of blush and highlight and would both fit a lot of skin tones.

Inside, as the name suggests, you get three products. Your contour shade takes the whole top tier and your blush and highlighter rest on the lower tier (and so does a convenient mirror for an on-the-go application). All three of these are cream products - I usually stay away from creams in favour of powders, but after first digging into this kit, my scepticism disappeared and let me tell you why.

These are the swatches of all three products in fair. I applied it with a pretty heavy hand here to show you what the colours actually look like, but they're both really blendable and buildable. About the colours - the contour shade isn't too warm, which is great, because it's actually pretty hard to find one that isn't too orangey. I absolutely love the peachy, coral-y shade of the blush - it makes the skin look so healthy in an instant. The highlighter is actually pretty interesting too, as it's completely matte. It's not the extremely obvious, shimmery highlight, but rather a subtle way to illuminate your face.
When I said I liked these even though I usually go for powders, I meant the formula aspect of the product. These are cream-to-powder formula and after you apply them (they're really smooth), they dry out to a rather matte, powdery finish. They're pretty easy to blend, you can use your fingers, but I find that a sponge works best with these.
What is your favourite contouring technique? Do you go for shimmery or matte highlighters?
See you next time!
